Manchester Parents Group

Manchester Parents Group is a voluntary organisation which supports families and friends of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people (LGBT). We are all parents of lesbian, gay and bisexual sons and daughters and understand the confusion and questions you may have when when you first found out your child is lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.

We've accepted our children’s sexuality/gender identity and we realise that our children are still the same people, still the ones we love. We learn to respect their choices in life and enjoy who they are, just as we always have.

If you have a family member who has come out as gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans or gender-fluid, it can be a bit unexpected to say the least. Some of us find it easier than others. Sometimes it feels like a bombshell in the family. To keep that precious family relationship going, it can be very helpful to chat about it to others who've been there and who understand. We'd love to hear from you 


We have accepted our children's sexuality or identity, and want to help other parents and family to accept their lesbian and gay children.

We understand that it can be daunting to tell you parents about your sexuality so we help gays and lesbians to tell parents about their sexuality.
